Happy Birthday

My mother broke her leg a couple of months ago.  Since that time she and my father have been staying at the local nursing home.  The Head Rat and I tried to take care of them at their home, but Mom decided the nursing home would be a better temporary option.  I still don’t like it (probably my pride talking), but it has been about as good an experience as possible, under the circumstances.  She’s gotten real good physical therapy, to the point that they can come home next week.  We’re headed over after I get out of class Tuesday to move them back home.

Today is Mom’s 85th birthday.  She’ll never see this; I never gave them the web site name.  She would look askance at my politics and would probably be appalled at my language (the grammar, I mean – although she wouldn’t be too happy about some of my “colorful metaphors”, to quote Mr. Spock).

Anyway, happy birthday, Mom.

I am so happy they are home. Finally, I can talk to Grandma without having to cut our conversation short because someone walked on to their room. And I think they are mych more comfortable at home, especially Grandpa.
