That reminds me

Have you ever had the experience of noticing that when you talk to a particular individual (or, in the blogosphere, read their material) that they remind you of someone else? Except that the details of their existence aren’t really similar? They don’t talk the same way, use the same vocabulary, aren’t interested in the same things, etc. But when you think about it, there is something, some defining way of being, that makes them (as my grandmother would have said) “two peas in a pod”?

OK, maybe really bizarre, misshapen peas, but you get the idea.

Rachel Lucas is blogging again. I’m really fascinated with her material. And, she reminds me of my late Aunt Jo. Not the details: the vocabulary is different (I never once heard my aunt swear), the subject matter is mostly different (OK, they are/were both dog people), the style and tone are different. This has been bothering me for several days. I knew she reminded me of someone, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Then it hit me. It is the ability to take an event and turn it into an EVENT in the telling.
