No kidding

I’ve messed up my back. Again. This time it seems to be muscles knotted up just left of my spine and just below the acromion¹.  Since driving moves rather quickly down the continuum past “adventure” and into “have you got a bloody death-wish” territory when you can’t turn your head, I went to the doctor yesterday, thinking 4 days was long enough to put up with it.

They did the standard thing where the nurse comes in and asks you what’s going on, you tell her, she writes it down for the doctor and then the doctor comes in and asks you what’s going on and you tell her.  After we got through that song and dance, the doctor poked around on my back and then said, “your back is really tight.”

Really.  4 years of college and 7 years of med school and that’s the best you can come up with?

In retrospect, I don’t really know what I was expecting.  I mean, that’s really all there is to it and I’m not sure what else you could call it.  Still, something like “hyper-contraction of the trapezius” would be a lot more satisfying than “your back is really tight.

1-no, I didn’t know it was called an acromion.  I had to look it up here.
