C vs. W

Some website I was on recently (don’t remember where – I do remember snorting at it and then moving on) had in the comments a spiel by some rabid greenie who insisted that the flood in Fargo was proof of global warming.

People, there is a difference between climate and weather. Weather is the clouds, sun, wind, rain, snow, ice, hot, cold, (or in the case of Fargo, rain on top of melting ice and snow) that we experience on a daily basis. As much as I would like to point to the 14+ straight hours of sleet we had yesterday and the 4 or 5 inches of snow we got on top of it today as proof that global warming is a hoax, it simply isn’t any such thing. It’s just crappy, late March weather in Kansas. Climate (global warming or global cooling, precipitation trends, etc.) is a long term process.

That said, if you want to argue that the flood is proof of global warming which “everyone” says is because of our CO2 output, it would help if the previous record flood had occurred within the last few years instead of 1897. If that’s your argument, it’s stupid.

Unless you want to argue that 1897 was a peak year for methane from horse farts or something.
